Hi,
On fedora core 6, i have some problem of dns name resolution with some programs.
If i use wget or firefox (and maybe other progs) i can't use dns name
to access websites, ie :
--01:24:49-- http://www.symantec.com/
Résolution de www.symantec.com... 1.0.0.0
Connexion vers www.symantec.com|1.0.0.0|:80...échec: Le réseau n'est
pas accessible..

On every test, dns return me 1.0.0.0 IP address for every servers...

If i use the ping command address is ok.:
]# ping www.iana.org
PING www.iana.org (192.0.34.162) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from www.iana.org (192.0.34.162): icmp_seq=1 ttl=43 time=211 ms

I found somewhere on google i have to restart the nscd daemon, but it
does not solve my problem.

Does someone can help me ? :)

Thanks,

Hi,

I had the same problem, this is my info.

I am using Debian Etch
my nameserver was my ADSL CPE which is a Paradyne with WiFi AP embeded
(any way I am connected to it with an eth cable).

On that CPE I configured this Name SErvers

200.87.61.83
166.114.10.10
4.2.2.2

What I need to do was to change my PC from using DHCP to static IP and
put that name servers directly on my PC, all the problem was solved
with that, i think your first name server is not resolving as my ADSL
CPE wasn't.

hope it helps.

regards,
