Hi everyone, Using FC4 on my laptop here. Tonight I rebooted and the thing took minutes to boot up for no appartent reason including many long tense moments of blank screens. The only error message I noticed was it failed to start up swap. When I try to start it from the command line this happens: [root@localhost alastair]# swapon -v /dev/sda5 swapon on /dev/sda5 swapon: /dev/sda5: Invalid argument And in dmesg: Unable to find swap-space signature Here is the partition table of my hard disk: [root@localhost alastair]# parted /dev/sda print Disk geometry for /dev/sda: 0.000-76319.085 megabytes Disk label type: msdos Minor Start End Type Filesystem Flags 1 0.031 40967.226 primary ntfs boot 3 40967.227 51214.570 primary fat32 lba 4 51214.570 72270.351 extended lba 5 51214.601 52499.179 logical 6 52499.210 72270.351 logical ext3 2 72270.352 76316.132 primary fat32 Information: Don't forget to update /etc/fstab, if necessary. So what has happened to my swap? I hope this is also the reason for the very slow boot! Any ideas? Cheers, Alastair
