I posted what happenend in my original e-mail in this thread.

When my system boots, I see

GRUB

and then my system hangs right there.  I have absolutely no idea what
causes it or why.  Last time it was after doing a kernel update.  In
that case I booted off the rescue disk and chrooted in and did a
grub-install.  That fixed it the first time.  This past week that didn't
work the first few times, but then it started booting again.

I'm trying to narrow down the cause, but so far I haven't received much
help in that.
