Yeah, it doesn't look like the noprobe has the same effect as it does
for me. Perhaps Dotan's dvd drive is not connected in the same order
as mine is my Dell E1705.
Before I added the noprobe, anytime I'd use the drive (to read data,
play a cd or dvd, etc) the entire system would get dreadfully
sluggish. I'm not sure if that is really the problem that Dotan's got
or not. He said in one post that dvd playback worked well with VLC,
so the issue he's having may well just be video related.
I'm far from expert enough to know. I was only aiming at the
low-hanging fruit thinking that the solution that I dug around to find
when I got my laptop might just be the same for his Dell. :)
