Actually it really doesn't. On a farely normal system X is going to run constantly. And every silly graphical event will cause it to accumulate CPU time. And 18 minutes in 43 hours is 0.7% of total running time. On my workstation I have 2.8% (1465 minutes in 36 days of uptime).
