I'm on the bobsled ride to the Chinese multiple-versions of Hell on
greased rails with this. I can't get out of the "yum update Hell"
reserved for those of us caught up in it. I tried to drop back a couple
of kernel versions, and putting the nvidia stuff back, which led to the
kernel being updated back to what I was running, and when I managed to
get the 2869 kernel, it's loaded the i585 devel package. So, I ripped
THAT back out, erased anything that looked like it in /boot as rpm -e
didn't pull those out for me (?)

THEN I re-installed what I had before, sitting here in long-johns like I
had good sense, haven't shaved, haven't done anything of real value
today, just futzing. Xine worked, played one video, crapped out and
refused to play anything else and reverted to not working WHILE it was
running. God almighty THAT one is a new one for me, a running app
working just fine, goes back to it's old behavior in the middle of
selecting a new file, that plays just fine with mplayer. What is with
that?

This has been a mind-blower. It's almost 4pm and I'm just getting
dressed. Someone shoot me, please. I have no life. <sighs> Ric
