yum memory consumption madness

Hi,

Is yum well known for growing to very large memory sizes? I just
ran

  # yum whatprovides usbview

and the resulting process grew steadily in size until it reached
188MB resident size. While it was growing it was also consuming
99% CPU. Upon reaching its peak at 188MB, its memory usage dropped
dramatically and so did its CPU usage. It's now a couple of hours
on, and the command hasn't returned!

This is on a system with 320MB RAM and about 600MB swap.

  Paul.
