NEW link to 3d game engine

In an earlier post, I can't remember the thread, there was a link to a
        3d game engine or VRML engine (I don't remember the specifics),
        that
        requested that we (the Linux community) reclaim that software
        for FOSS
        before the windows folks did.  I am interested.  Could someone
        post the
        link or the thread topic so I can find it again?
        
        I thought I had saved it, but....
