Disable all sound modules

I'd like to disable sound in FC6 and prevent all sound modules from loading into 
the kernel at boot time.  I've commented out all sound-related lines in 
/etc/modprobe.conf and I've added soundcore and snd to 
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist, yet the darn sound modules continue to load on bootup.

Does anyone know of a way to prevent sound modules from loading, besides 
rebuilding the kernel without them?
