At least for CDs, I sometimes just skip making an iso containing only
one big file (my backup.tar.gz) and just use cdrecord to write the tar
file to the CD instead of a .iso.
I read them back with something like ``tar -xvzf /dev/cdrom''
If I use cdrecord to write a file to a cd, how can i read it back. Say
a text file?
Insufficient information. The cdrecord command has a lot of ways
to do what you specify. You need to post the exact command you
have in mind.
If you mean what I think you do, then you might need to use
dd.

You have found the bank of Larn.
I can explain it for you, but I can't understand it for you.
