Curious! There's only one relevant stat(), so the size is definitely
coming from the directory. Try using that "stat" command line tool:

stat /var/spool/mqueue

Is this an ext3 filesystem? What does /proc/mounts look like?

Hi

Here's the result from the stat command:

stat /var/spool/mqueue
 File: "/var/spool/mqueue"
Size: 311296 Blocks: 7448760 IO Block: 4096 Directory

Yep this is a redhat 7.2 system, that will be upgraded next month, finally :).

Any ideas on what else to check, before I do any delete's or fsck's.

Thanks
Dan
