No, it, nor any subsequent version that I've been able to locate will install due to dependencies. That particular file I have not been able to locate, what I have are these: [root@coyote src]# ls jpackage-utils* jpackage-utils-1.6.6-1jpp.src.rpm jpackage-utils-1.7.3-1jpp.noarch.rpm jpackage-utils-1.7.3-1jpp.src.rpm Humm, I just made a liar out of me, this one just did install: jpackage-utils-1.7.3-1jpp.noarch.rpm So whats next? I have this jdk on site: [root@coyote src]# ls jdk* jdk-1_5_0_10-linux-i586.bin jdk-1_5_0_10-linux-i586.rpm jdk1.5.0_10: bin COPYRIGHT demo include jre lib LICENSE man README.html sample src.zip THIRDPARTYLICENSEREADME.txt The rpm was packed with rpm-4.0.4, and segfaults 4.4.3, which is how I think my rpm database got fscked. The subdir you see is the result of running the .bin file, and that also installed a /usr/java tree with lots of stuff in it. FWIW OpenOffice found that and is using it! I also linked the libjavaplugin_oji.so to the plugins dir of ff-1.5.0.8 and all that now shows up in the about:plugins --------------- Java(TM) Plug-in 1.5.0_10-b03 File name: libjavaplugin_oji.so Java(TM) Plug-in 1.5.0_10 MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled application/x-java-vm Java Yes application/x-java-applet Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.1 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.1.1 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.1.2 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.1.3 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.2 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.2.1 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.2.2 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.3 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.3.1 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.4 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.4.1 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.4.2 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;version=1.5 Java Yes application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.5.0_10 Java Yes application/x-java-bean Java Yes application/x-java-bean;version=1.1 Java Yes application/x-java-bean;version=1.1.1 Java Yes application/x-java-bean;version=1.1.2 Java Yes application/x-java-bean;version=1.1.3 Java Yes application/x-java-bean;version=1.2 Java Yes application/x-java-bean;version=1.2.1 Java Yes application/x-java-bean;version=1.2.2 Java Yes application/x-java-bean;version=1.3 Java Yes application/x-java-bean;version=1.3.1 Java Yes application/x-java-bean;version=1.4 Java Yes application/x-java-bean;version=1.4.1 Java Yes application/x-java-bean;version=1.4.2 Java Yes application/x-java-bean;version=1.5 Java Yes application/x-java-bean;jpi-version=1.5.0_10 Java Yes ---------------------- But it'll be about a week before I can get to it as I have to make a trip to upstate MI starting tomorrow. Yes, I was hoping too, but there is now a very confusing plethora of src only packages available on the OpenJava site and while I'm not allergic to building kernels, 2.6.19 is running here, building a java package from scratch looks a bit daunting. I get the impression it would be up to the user to make gcc build it since they're using their own compiler for it up till now.
