I run Fedora Core 3.
I want to watch an avi file.
$ file 2005-SS-FP.V01.2005-04-12.HDV_low.avi
2005-SS-FP.V01.2005-04-12.HDV_low.avi: RIFF (little-endian) data, AVI,
1280 x 720, 25.00 fps, video: XviD, audio: MPEG-1 Layer 3 (mono, 48000 Hz)
I installed:
videolan-client-0.8.4a-4.fc3.rf
videolan-client-devel-0.8.4a-4.fc3.rf
wxGTK-common-2.4.2-7
wxGTK-devel-2.4.2-7
wxGTK-xrc-2.4.2-7
wxGTK-gl-2.4.2-7
wxGTK-common-devel-2.4.2-7
wxGTK-stc-2.4.2-7
wxGTK-2.4.2-7
vlc fails with the following:
$ vlc 2005-SS-FP.V01.2005-04-12.HDV_low.avi

From looking at
https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/2006-January/msg01008.html
it appears I am stuck.
Does anyone have any suggestions other than upgrading to FC 6?
Thank you for your attention,
Darlene
