FC 6 install/x86_64/dvd/nvida NV44 graphics card

I have encountered the following issues trying to install FC 6 on my 
Dell Precision 390/Intel Core 2 Duo/nvidia NV44/Dell 24 inch wide screen 
monitor

1) install in graphics mode
   a) the graphics are poor
   b)the text is mostly unreadable
2)install in text mode
   At the end of the 'transaction' test it complains of an 
non-specific  error and asks that the system be rebooted

using the x86_64 DVD iso

Note
  
   This setup currently has FC5 installed and running with no problems
