Normally from the controller, surely? You would only enable term. power if the controller doesn't supply it, and then only on one device, at the end of the chain.


Unless, you mean to ensure that you don't have several devices on the
bus trying to supply termination power.


That's the principle reason. IIRC, on some old devices turning on internal term. power also enabled internal termination, so you wouldn't want an external terminator in that case.
