The bugzilla I mentioned earlier is here: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136541 It is really amusing reading if you have a few hours to spare. I think the location field may not be up by default, but at least it now remembers the last state, so if you ever typed Ctrl-L or / then the next time you get the file selector dialog, the text field will still be there.
