I have found some more info .... with the iwconfig command and using driver 1.1.2 I see that the ESSID:"mdcx" appears rather than "mdc" - and this may be related to the "last char missing" problem that was related in other posts eg at http://news.gmane.org/gmane.linux.drivers.ipw3945.devel Also in the same list I see that there are other postings on the topic that the "driver will not associate with AP"..... so maybe there is an avenue for investigation here.... If anyone who has been following this thread can suggest a simple fix/patch then I would be delighted to hear it. Mike
