I doubt it has anything to do with your problem, but that's an usual
place to put a cross-over cable. You normally use straight-through
cables for things that are supposed to be connected together (such as
routers and computers), and cross-over cables for things that don't
normally connect directly together (e.g. two PCs).
Of course. Since i had a long crossover unused cable i just used it till
i got wireless working :) as the router is a mounted up on the wall far
away. Gigabit Ethernet in the laptop adapts to the cross cable.
The problem with firefox got resolved for the moment by changing the value
network.dns.disableIPv6 to true in about:config.
POP access works. Pings are OK. If this comes through SMTP also works.
YUM still does not work. Maybe the real network issues must be sorted out.
How does one test if networking is working properly?
Thanks,
