Does the foo.iso.md5 file contain a line with the name of foo.iso and the 
md5sum?

If so you just go

md5sum -c foo.iso.md5

It picks up the names of each of the files in turn and checks the calculated 
md5sum against the md5sum stored in the md5 file.
