I'll try it tomorrow and see what happens :) OK, I couldn't wait: I decoded the four files I used in my test earlier into wav files. I then encoded them at 96, 160, 256 and 320kbs. Before I encoded them at different bitrates, they totaled 17 minutes and 6 seconds. I then ran "cat *.mp3 > filename.mp3 on the four files. I then proceeded to open up the new file in XMMS, and it detected it as being over 40 minutes long :) I then proceeded to skip to the parts where the songs were supposed to fade out, and guess what? Even though it was a live album, the songs flowed together perfectly. It was kind of funny watching the bitrate indicator in XMMS change when the song changed.
