Fedora Core on a Dell Dimension 9200

    Hello,
I was able to install FC5 on the newly released Dell Dimension 9200. Had to
upgrade the network drives after the install, but it worked.... that is
until I updated the kernel to the latest version (2.6.17-1.2187_FC5smp). The
system fails to boot --- the problem is with the hard disk controller
drivers. It seems the kernel cannot find the hard disks after the kernel
loads.

Unable to access resume device (LABEL=SWAP-sda5)
mount: could not find filesystem '/dev/root'
setuproot: moving /dev failed: No such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /proc: No such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /sys: No such file or directory
switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory
Kernel panic - not syncing: attempted to kill init!

Somehow the driver "upgrade" breaks this particular sata disk controller.

Booting from the older kernel causes the system to come right up.

Does anyone know what is going on? Anyone have a fix?

Sincerely,

   - Henrik
