Just in case that panics anybody, it's not "gamma radiation," it's
simply random electrical noise.  It's the same, visually, as you'll hear
on a radio that's not tuned to a station.  You're seeing/hearing
electrons rushing around in the circuitry.

Your problem sounded like your video card isn't supported.  It's
possible that updating Xorg after installation will take care of that
for you.

Your other problems sound worse:

Sounds like either a stuffed hard drive, or some error happened at the
moment it was writing the file system to the hard drive.

Of course, being unable to properly read the drive, results in various
other errors while trying to start up.  The following could be related
