Hi, Can I please piggyback on this thread also? I have not had sound working for me on my Dell Precision 650 dual processor for two months or so. It worked previously, just fine. Here is the output of %/sbin/lsmod |grep snd snd_intel8x0 36445 1 snd_ac97_codec 96225 1 snd_intel8x0 snd_ac97_bus 6593 1 snd_ac97_codec snd_seq_dummy 8133 0 snd_seq_oss 37185 0 snd_seq_midi_event 11841 1 snd_seq_oss snd_seq 59441 5 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event snd_seq_device 13005 3 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq snd_pcm_oss 43985 0 snd_mixer_oss 21825 2 snd_pcm_oss snd_pcm 88005 3 snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss snd_timer 28613 2 snd_seq,snd_pcm snd 59973 9 snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer soundcore 14113 2 snd snd_page_alloc 14665 2 snd_intel8x0,snd_pcm [4:09pm] subarnarekha:~$ /sbin/lsmod | grep snd snd_intel8x0 36445 0 snd_ac97_codec 96225 1 snd_intel8x0 snd_ac97_bus 6593 1 snd_ac97_codec snd_seq_dummy 8133 0 snd_seq_oss 37185 0 snd_seq_midi_event 11841 1 snd_seq_oss snd_seq 59441 5 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event snd_seq_device 13005 3 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq snd_pcm_oss 43985 0 snd_mixer_oss 21825 1 snd_pcm_oss snd_pcm 88005 3 snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss snd_timer 28613 2 snd_seq,snd_pcm snd 59973 9 snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer soundcore 14113 1 snd snd_page_alloc 14665 2 snd_intel8x0,snd_pcm Any suggestions as to what is wrong? I am running FC5 and kernel 2.6.17-1.2174_FC5 but it is perhaps not a kernel issue, since kernels issued over the past 2 months have also had this problem... Many thanks and best wishes, Trotter __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
