Ditto... as Mike says on the page on recent kernels you can ignore the ieee80211 stack update business. I would start over using Mike's reference but ignoring the ieee80211 stuff altogether.
The stuff is really nice and stable when it is up, and it works with wpa_supplicant okay as well so you can have WPA and not just WEP.
