Sorry for the other email with incorrect information,
I put ~/.gnome and there is only a folder there
[tonio@localhost .gnome]$ ls
gnome-vfs

Try (on KDE since it allows you to do some work) Fire
up a terminal
$ cp ~/.gnome2/session ~/.gnome2/session.bak
$ rm -rf ~/.gnome2/session
logout
and try to log back in (using GNOME)

[tonio@localhost .gnome2]$ ls
accels           evince                gthumb
  rhythmbox     yelp
backgrounds.xml  f-spot                keyrings
  session
blam             gedit-2
nautilus-scripts  share
bug-buddy.d      gnome-volume-control  panel2.d
  totem-addons

Try this and report and report back

Regards,

Antonio
