I think the noexec is not allowing me to run the perl script, but I'm not sure.
Yes, you are correct. What I've done to work around this is $ sudo mount -o remount,ro,uid=500,utf8 /dev/hdc /media/disk I am curious as well to learn how the default options are selected, (although, I guess I haven't been curious enough to track it down myself :-) --wpd
