What am I doing wrong?

SYNOPSIS
mkisofs [ options ] [ -o filename ] pathspec [pathspec ...]
You gave it the filename you wanted to build as an iso, but the not src
file pathlist to put in that iso.
OK, but
cdrecord dev=cdrom -sao /Backup/mybackup.iso
/Backup/amandatapes/Dailys/slot9
You're confusing cdrecord and mkisofs.
mkisofs makes a big ISO file from your small files, and it's the big ISO
file that should be burned using cdrecord.
Why your cdrecord can't grok that your DVD can hold more than 1.9GB I
don't know.
Paul,
try these commands
mkisofs -o /Backup/mybackup.iso -R -J -l -v /path/to/data/directory/
cdrecord -v -sao dev=cdrom -data /Backup/mybackup.iso
