Weird, boot CPU (#0) not listed by the BIOS

Hi,

I am trying to boot in a quad opteron server with the FC5 supplied SMP
kernel:
2.6.17-1.2145_FC5smp.

I get the following message:

Intel machine check architecture supported
Intel machine check reporting enabled on CPU#0
Checking 'hlt' instruction... OK.
SMP alternatives: switching to UP code
CPU0: AMD Dual Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 880 stepping 02
Weird, boot CPU (#0) not listed by the BIOS
SMP alternatives: switching to SMP code
Booting processor 1/16 eip 3000
CPU 1 irqstacks, hard=c07ae000 soft=c078e000

Then after ~1sec wait, the computer hard-resets itself.

First, is there a reason why is the reported architecture being i386
instead of x64_86?

Second -- any ideas what is the reason for the above mentioned reboot?

Cheers
Gaspar
