Menu/Accessories/Terminal

See if that don't get you going.  You can also just create an applet so
you have easy access.

I simply click on Menu, Accessories, and then drag and drop the
terminal command to my panel atop the screen.  That way it's one click
away.  That's how I've always done it.  I never realized you could
right click with older versions.
