How did you decide on|set the hostname for that box, or is it just doing the WINS thing and broadcasting its desired name to the other windows hosts on the network? if you set a fixed IP, you can use either a) an /etc/hosts entry on all your machines ( or at least the Fedora ones) or b) a local DNS server and it will still work the same way for your windows machines. > By the way all computers in my LAN have dynamic address which is handled by > DSL modem router.
