By the looks of it the kernel has not been updated, strange as it installed
with no problems!

The only explanation I can think of for this is that you downloaded and
installed the SRPM (.src.rpm) instead of the binary RPM for your
system's architecture (e.g. .i386.rpm or .x86_64.rpm).


The kernel I downloaded was kernel-2.6.16-1.2122_FC5.i586.rpm, I tried this one as I could not find an i386 one.
