hi... i'm trying to get nfs up/running on a linux server. from "ps -aux" i seem to be able to see nfs/portmap running. however, when i do a 'mount 192.168.1.54:/iso /iso2 on the client machine, i get an err msg... "mount: 192.168.1.54:/is failed, reason given by server: Permission denied" any idea as to what i've missed?? thanks -bruce -----Original Message----- From: fedora-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:fedora-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Ed Kim Sent: Wednesday, June 07, 2006 12:17 PM To: For users of Fedora Core releases Subject: Re: nfs help? bruce wrote: > ok terry.. > > bear with me... > >>> mount [servername]:/iso [mount point] > > mount 192.168.1.52:/iso /iso2 > > 192.168.1.52:/iso <<< the initial server where i created the nfs share > /iso2 <<< the folder/dir on the client machine > > is this correct? did i miss something > > -bruce > > your exports on the server says, /iso 192.168.1.52 which is giving the ip 192.168.1.52 access to your NFS share, but i'm guessing that's not what you want. You want to list the client's ip so that, /iso clientip(rw) will give nfs access to the client. You'll also want to make sure you have the service 'portmap' running as this is necessary for NFS RPC service. Finally, you'll want to make sure port 111 is open on your firewall (both tcp and udp) -- Ed Kim, RHCE http://www.rhatbox.com Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. ~Arthur C.
