"OAFIID:GNOME_MixerApplet"

After updating the gnome-panel package to version gnome- 
panel-2.14.2-1.fc5.1 I get the following error when logging in to gnome:

The panel encountered a problem while loading  
"OAFIID:GNOME_MixerApplet".

Removing the ~/.gnome* and ~/.gconf* dirs and logging in again didn't  
help. Manually adding the volume control applet to the panel results  
in the same error message. Is anyone else seeing this ?
