Next was the swap directories. It had non-sense addresses for both
swap directories. Really BAD! I changed it by erasing the /dev/hda swap
and then re-writing the /dev/hdb3 SWAP just like that. This has been
working and fstab-synch has not messed with it.
Well known bug in FC4 Anaconda. Search bugzilla for details. There are
also posts relating to the condition at fedoraforum.org, if you're
interested.
Well I think I will try to get the file fixed up properly and
watching it every day see if it stays in good shape. Every new fangangle
has 6 side effects that are BAD.
The swap label bug affects FC4 only at install time. fstab-sync won't
mess with it going forward.
By the way, you should probably check to make sure swap is working.
grep SwapTotal /proc/meminfo
Verify a nonzero result.
I used top and it lists the proper size swap file which is mounted.

PS: It's not just a FC4 problem. I looked at the /etc/fstab on my FC5
and it is, if anything worse than FC4!
