gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf (SUSE 10)

I'm new to Linux. I followed Stan Finley Linux Instruction Notes. When I was at the ?gedit /etc/X11/org.conf?, I email Asus support for display specs. The only change I felt at ease with changing, was (Modes 1280x768) for my wide screen laptop. Another option I have is to use SUSE 10.0 settings which I have listed below. Would this be compatible with Fedora? I like Fedora better.
Any other suggestions from the community would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dennis

You may need to get out your calculator, and line up the columns but I pulled these numbers from the LCD spec. sheet.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
