I typically use software RAID 1 for those so that any troubleshooting/recovery is a bit easier. I think you are correct. It doesn't make sense that the filesystem would have an issue, because after all it mounts in other OSes and it passes e2fsck just fine. It's in one of the mount-related utilities or the kernel. That said, it's possible that there might be a change to the filesystem that would allow the issue to be avoided. Any idea of how one might go about troubleshooting this further? -- Brian
