Interesting, I'll probably give it a try soon. What IR hardware is yours?
What module parameters do you give it? Grmbl, my IR hardware doesn't appear
anymore in lspci's output as it did, maybe I stripped down my kernel config
too much :-D.

Works fine here, w/ keyboard assignments from GNOME's keyboard shortcuts
(no xmodmap modifications, no need for i8k module and I don't remember having
done anything for it). Keycodes are:
  volume down: 0xae
  volume up:   0xb0
  volume mute: 0xa0

Hmm yes this one doesn't work here too (but works in winXP). I didn't care of
it, since the wifi link works :).

I had very poor CD/DVD transfer rates and CPU eating until I passed
hdc=noprobe at boot time. Now the CD/DVD drive is /dev/hdc (was /dev/sdb,
IIRC) and it works fine. Does it help?
