Check your /etc/nsswitch.conf

If the "hosts" line is:

hosts: files nisplus dns

Try changing it to:

hosts: files dns

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i checked   /etc/nsswitch.conf hosts:files dns is already there.
