got the message that
I need vmlinuz

This means you don't have the kernel installed that the madwifi packages are for (2.6.16-1.2069_FC4). Since you previously said you have FC5, this obviously is the wrong kernel. And you should install them all at once, just list them all in the same rpm command, because they probably all depend on each other.
