All that below there was added by hand. Some of the above variables were also added by hand. I just went through the various ifup-* scripts (eg. /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-*) noting the various env vars that might be useful to set. > I use hosts files for that, its only a 7 machine network when all are > alive. If VZ's named works for you then good enough, but they strike me as pretty confused about dns in general. Any interested hobbyist should be able to do better.
