     1. Option   "Protocol"  "ThinkingMouse" (or whatever is
        appropriate for you, you might be able to use auto)
     2. Option  "Device" "/dev/ttyS1"  (or ttyS0 for your setup)

I can't remember where I found this out initially.  Perhaps the X website.
