Apparently, in some cases the new driver will reject any vertical
refresh frequency higher than approx. 70...75Hz or so, leading to screen
flicker. In some cases it will totally disrupt the functioning of the
display, as the card and the monitor do not agree anymore on a common
set of parameters (resolution + refresh rate).
