FC5 install boot strap seems to ignore ide=nodma

Attempting to upgrade my home built FC4 system.

Keying linux ide=nodma at the boot prompt seems to have no effect all the
IDE devices HD, DVD/CD-ROM time out from DMA issues. I've used both the
boot.iso image burned to a CD and the bootdisk.img dd'ed to a USB key.

Any ideas? What additional information do I need to provide?

THANKS,

Terry
