Yes it does.

Scenario 1:
1. Insert blank RW.
2. Auto system decides to do something with disc that upsets your
   preferred burning software.
3. Unmount disc.
4. Use your burning software as you see fit.

Scenario 2:
1. Insert blank RW.
2. Auso system does what it does...
3. Eject disc.
4. Go back to step 1 and never get to burn your disc.
