"No volume control elements and/or devices found." on FC4

Hello.  I installed FC4 at work for the first time and when users
login, they get an error
"No volume control elements and/or devices found."

I tried running gst-register-0.8 as Google results suggest
(http://linuxweblog.com/node/323) but we are still getting this error
on login.

We don't need sound to work on these machines.  How can I get rid of
this error, please?
