Sounds like you have the same problem I have. The xorg drivers stick me
with a 640x480 on my Radeon X700, regardless of monitor settings.
Try the option:
Option "DDCMode" "On"
In the device section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and it will probably fix it.
Spot on! That was exactly the problem! At least I can browse sites
again. You would be astonished how many sites have fixed width when
browsing. Even our own Fedora Wiki site has a fixed width: try browsing
" Fedora People" with a smal resolution. You will see it is impossible
to read the part of the contents that is more to the right and there is
*no* slider to slide over there.....
Anyway, I was stil wondering: is this a well-known bug or feature?
Should we get it documented somewhere?
I have no experience modifying the wiki site, but I wonder whether it
should go there: in the FAQ perhaps?
Guus.
