I got an E1705 a month ago and spent the extra $20 or $30 to get the
intel pro/wireless 3945.  The drivers and firmware are available[1]
and are working pretty well for me (with WPA2-PSK courtesy of
wpa_supplicant).

That I couldn't tell you.  Mine came with an nvidia graphics card as
the upgrade to the stock intel graphics.  My how a month changes
things.

That's what I'm running.  I like ripping CD's and watching the CPU's
race to get a chance to run an encoder process.  Poor CPU1 doesn't get
a turn all that often. :)
