I don't know the reason, but mplayer tries to hog all my multimedia duties if I install an mplayerplug-in newer than 2,80, or perhaps 2.85 (on fc4). It seems to be true when running other linux distros as well. Try installing your plugin from Livna, They usually have the older plugin. --gary
