Jonathan:

Has anyone had trouble with an ATI RV280 [Radeon 9200] video card?  My X
windows system won't start unless I press return a few times during the
boot process...

I have a similar card, identified as "(--) PCI:*(1:0:0) ATI TechnologiesInc RV280 [Radeon 9200] rev 1, Mem @ 0xe8000000/27, 0xd8100000/16, I/O @0x9000/8" in /var/log/Xorg.0.log. I don't have this issue. I did a cleaninstall and upgraded. I run the "radeon" driver. I don't have theproprietary ATI driver installed.
