See if ps -ef | grep beagle gives you anything. The beagled daemon was slowing my machine to an absolute crawl when enabled. Basically I saw100% cpu utilization, which dropped all IO to about 0%...ouch.
I have deactivated beagle... $ ps -ef | grep beagle boris 19245 19035 0 15:14 pts/1 00:00:00 grep beagle $ thanks anyway.
